COMMUNITY

A wide variety of experiences for groups from the community are available.  Would you like to learn more about local Aboriginal culture, take a tour of local sites, learn some Gamilaraay language, or be immersed in a cultural experience? Len can work with you to tailor an experience for your community group.

Welcome To Country

Opening public events with a Welcome to Country and/or an Aboriginal cultural performance is a respectful way to acknowledge Kamilaroi Peoples as the original custodians of the local area and acknowledge their continuing relationship with the land.  A Welcome to Country is not just a formality, more than that, it provides a blessing of safe passage through Kamilaroi lands.

Smoking Ceremonies

Smoking ceremonies are a significant and ancient cultural practice in which the leaves of native plants are used to create smoke which has cleansing properties.  The ceremony itself is used to remove bad spirits, cleanse and heal.

Local Kamilaroi Culture

Explore local parks and landmarks to broaden your understanding Kamilaroi history and how it shaped our local community, enjoy a local excursion or try your hand at spear throwing, boomerang making or fire making with fire sticks.

Guest Speaker
