The passing on of Aboriginal culture and stories to children and young people occurred through observation and listening to older members of the tribe, and sustained Kamilaroi culture for tens of thousands of years. In contemporary times, the value of this method of teaching remains, and the incorporation of cultural demonstrations and school events provides a wonderful opportunity to introduce students to ancient practices and embed an understanding and appreciation of local Aboriginal culture from an early age.
