Cultural Education Days

If you are looking for something different for your staff’s cultural education why not speak to Len about a package that not only presents your staff with valuable and practical information but immerses them in an Aboriginal experience that they won’t forget.  A range of experiences are available including:

• Cultural Talks and Story Telling within a bush setting: Aboriginal stories make so much more sense out under the sky, where they were intended to be told.  Immerse you staff in the sounds, smells and sights of a local bush setting while they gain an insight into traditional Aboriginal culture and ways of knowing.  Len’s observations and insights will engage the senses and the mind while introducing them to different ways of understanding our local environment.

• Bush Tucker and Bush Medicine: Len is skilled at plant identification and the traditional uses of a variety of local plants which are native to the North West of NSW.  Participants will learn how to identify local plants that were significant to the Kamilaroi people and how they were used in traditional medicine. As Len weaves stories and ancient teachings around this knowledge you will broaden your own perspective on traditional and contemporary Aboriginal society and practices.

• Culture Performances: Len performs a variety of Aboriginal ceremonies including Welcome to Country and traditional smoking ceremonies, and traditional song and storytelling, and is able to offer other experiences in Aboriginal art, didgeridoo, dance, boomerang throwing, fire stick and tool making.

• Site Visits and Excursions: Venture out of the workplace to any of a number of local Aboriginal sites to explore culture in an outdoor classroom.  Destinations include local sites around Tamworth and Gunnedah, as well as Mt Kaputar, Terry Hie Hie and Boobera Lagoon.

• Aboriginal Language: Len is a skilled teacher of Gamilaraay language who has taught language schools as well as to adult community groups.

• Staff Development Days: Need something different for your next team building day.  Len can tailor a tour that will challenge your staff, build problem solving and team work, and stimulate creative thinking.  Take a step out of the office to find a new perspective.  Your staff will appreciate the opportunity to challenge themselves and develop new skills.
